Bounty Fresh scored its first and only win in the 2nd Spikers' Turf Open Conference at the expense of Philippine Navy.

Bounty Fresh salvaged some sense of pride as the Soaring Griffins closed their campaign in the 2nd Spikers’ Turf Open Conference on a high note with a 20-25, 25-14, 17-25, 25-22, 19-17, win over the listless Philippine Navy Sailors Saturday at The PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.

Philip Bagalay pounded 19 of his 20 points from spikes while former University of Sto. Tomas star Romnick Rico scored 13 markers to pace the Soaring Griffins to its first and only win in five battles.

Julius Sioson added nine points while playmaker Geuel Asia dished out 33 perfect sets for Bounty Fresh.

The Sailors had a disappointing outing after losing all their five matches but none bigger than their defeat at the hands of the Soaring Griffins.

Navy squandered a 14-11 lead in the deciding set as Bounty Fresh tied the frame with three straight points. The Soaring Griffins saved three more matchpoints before Navy’s Nur Amin Madsairi overcooked his attack.

Bounty fresh skipper Ralph Ocampo sealed the one-hour, 49-minute match with an attack. Madsairi and Roldan Medino scored 15 points each for Navy.
